Design Philosophy

My approach to learning design is…

  • Learner-centered: designed for learners as individuals, and designed with options and customization points to allow learners to make choices to align the learning experience with their individual needs and goals.
  • Contextualized: designed with an understanding of the social, cultural, and technological contexts of learners.
  • Intentional: appropriate pedagogy, media, and technology choices are made based on the goals of the learning experience and understanding of the learner audience.
  • Effective: data is intentionally collected to understand the strengths and impact of a learning experience, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
